Many gaming companies and brands are planning to join the province’s high-potential iGaming market. The application will be accepted via the commission’s online site, iAGCO. However, in order to work with the operators, the organization must cut ties with any companies that continue to operate in the grey market.

The AGCO’s subsidiary company, iGaming Ontario, will be in charge of granting licenses, according to the guidance published this week. Later in 2021, the newly established online gambling authority will begin awarding licenses. In addition, operators would be charged a fee of CA$100,000 per year for all of their gambling sites. Only one- or two-year option periods are available to applicants.

Another requirement for registrants when seeking for a license is that they have no connections to grey market activities. After submitting their application to the AGCO, all applicants who want to participate in the launch of Ontario’s iGaming program must sever all connections with businesses in the grey market sector, according to the commission.

The application procedure will be conducted via the commission’s online portal, iAGCO. To apply, applicants must first create an account, after which they will be able to apply for AGCO-issued licenses, permits, authorizations, or registrations. The organization, however, cautions applicants that the application procedure has not yet begun and will begin in the coming weeks.

Candidates must provide numerous supporting papers with their applications, which will be used to evaluate them. Business name, constituting papers, certificate or articles of incorporation, share information, financial records, and government-issued identity are all examples. Applicants for limited partnerships must additionally provide an extra-provincial power of attorney. On AGCO.com, you can see the whole list.

iGaming Ontario gave it a thumbs up.

As previously stated, applications will be evaluated by AGCO’s newly established subsidiary online gaming company, iGaming Ontario. Despite the fact that the new company is a subsidiary of the commission, it operates independently and has its own staff and board of directors. The provision is now in charge of overseeing and regulating Ontario’s online gambling industry.

New Online Regulations

The province’s online gambling sector has already seen some changes thanks to iGaming Ontario. The organization previously announced that the Auto-Play option on digital slot games would be prohibited, with players being required to commit to each spin manually. The wheel spin speed has been reduced to a minimum of 2.5 seconds. Split-screen gaming is also no longer an option.
