A 50-year-old Alberta man has shared his luck with a Lotto 6/49 prize of $2,768,003.53, Canada’s largest-ever lottery jackpot prize. Lottery officials say the lucky man from Stony Plain, Alta., won the lottery in the draw on Aug. 2. The lucky winner chose the cash option for his prize, which he plans to share with his family.A random Canadian lottery player became a millionaire this week when the Western Canada Lottery Corporation reported that a person in Alberta had won a jackpot. According to the Crown corporation, the lucky cardholder is located somewhere in the province and won over C$18 million in the Lotto 6/49 lottery last week.

Every week players have the chance to participate in two draws, one on Wednesday and one on Saturday, and play for the top prize or a guaranteed million. Alberta reports its first major lottery win since October 2019 – the Lotto 6/49 jackpot was won by a resident of the province. The Western Canada Lottery Corporation announced Sunday on its official platform that a person has won an $18 million Canadian jackpot. The winning ticket is country-specific, meaning the winner will not share the grand prize.
The Crown Corporation gave no further details of the winner, whose name is currently unknown, but advised all Lotto 6/49 participants to check their tickets and contact the agency to claim their winnings. The six lucky numbers for Saturday’s draw are 4, 5, 18, 28, 35 and 42. This combination yielded just C$18,680,003.80 for the Alberta ticket holder.
The biggest current lottery win in the province remains for Ty Trinh of Calgary, who hit the C$65 million jackpot in the Lotto Max game in October 2019. Then in March 2020, Alan Connor of Elk Point also won a big National Lottery prize when ticket holder C won $5 million in the January 2020 Lotto 6/49 draw.
