Stevens, Jr., today announced the full-tuition NABI Foundation scholarship for college basketball players who want to attend and play in the tournament. PHOENIX, Ariz. –(BUSINESS WIRE)– April 7, 2022 The NABI Foundation Ernest L. Stevens, Jr.– University of Phoenix Scholarship has been announced by the Native American Basketball Invitational (NABI) and the University of Phoenix. The award is named after NABI’s current Chairman, Ernie Stevens, Jr., MM, who has spent his life advocating for tribal education, sports, and gaming. He has been an active supporter of NABI on numerous levels from its formation in 2003, is a graduate of the University of Phoenix Master of Management degree, and is the Chairman of the National Indian Gaming Association for the 21st year.
“The Tribal Specialists were crucial with assistance and resources that helped me remain focused and on schedule for completion while obtaining my master’s in management degree at the University of Phoenix,” Stevens says. “It gives me great pleasure knowing the scholarship would allow other indigenous children to achieve their educational ambitions.”
This is the first year the scholarship will be available; it is a full-tuition, single-recipient grant for a bachelor’s or master’s degree at the University of Phoenix that also includes electronic resource costs. On Saturday, July 23, at Footprint Center, home of the Phoenix Suns and Phoenix Mercury, the scholarship winner will be recognized and honored on center court during the NABI Championship games.
Eligibility:
Applicants must have taken part in NABI between 2003 and 2022 and must specify their year of participation.
The deadline to apply for the scholarship is May 15, 2022.

The “denver all west native tournament 2022” is an annual basketball tournament that has been held since 2009. The tournament is hosted by the Native American Basketball Invitational (NABI). In 2018, the NABI Foundation announced a scholarship for full-tuition to be given out to one student who attends Ernest L. Stevens, Jr. – University of Phoenix.
