Quebec is the first jurisdiction in North America to shut down casino properties within its limits, following a Supreme Court of Canada ruling. The casinos were only allowed to reopen after receiving an exemption from one court judge and there are several other cases pending before Quebec courts.

The “montreal casino reopening date 2021” is the latest news in the Quebec government shutting down a major casino. This has happened twice now, and it’s not looking good for this particular property.

Quebec Shuts Down Casino Properties Again

The Quebec provincial administration has resorted to halting various social events due to an increase in the number of occurrences of the exceptional scenario. Following this, Loto-Québec issued a provincial order closing down all casino establishments in the province for the time being. VLTs, bingo, and Kinzo offers in bars will be halted as well.

Following the declaration from the provincial government, Loto-mood Québec’s swiftly shifted, and the Crown company would once again cease operations at casinos. At the same time last year, the agency had to shut casinos, resulting in the layoff of almost 2,300 personnel. It is still unknown how long the properties will be closed.

Closure indefinitely

Loto-Québec declared on Monday that it would examine the situation after the province announced the additional limits. The Crown’s plan is to shift the majority of its personnel to customer service, like it did during the previous lockdowns. As a result, the firm will be able to retain the majority of its employees and provide them with employment throughout the shutdown.

Jean-François Bergeron, President and CEO of the Crown corporation, said that the organization has previously encountered a similar issue and that the team now knew how to respond. It’s unclear how long casino properties and other companies will be out of business. VLTs, bingo, and Kinzo offers in bars will also be unavailable, according to the Crown.

The state-run firm also released its financial results for the second quarter of 2021-2022, which ended on September 27, 2021, this week. The company made CA$388 million in earnings during the quarter, up 58 percent from the same period a year before. The corporation also states that it is on track to meet its yearly goals.

Mr. Bergeron further said that previous to the recent limits, the corporation hoped to refund to the government 90 percent of the pre-unprecedented scenario earnings, which was estimated to be roughly CA$1.1 billion. He finished by adding that the company’s finances would be put under further strain as a result of the recent shutdown, but that this will depend on how long the properties remain closed.

There are no plans for mandatory vaccinations.

Loto-Québec has declared that it would not compel its employees to be vaccinated in preparation for the unexpected event. The Crown argued that it does not agree with other provincial institutions that require their employees to get immunized. Mr. Bergeron claimed at the time that the corporation didn’t know the actual vaccination percentage of its workers, but that it was around the provincial average of 77 percent.

Protocol Infractions

The corporation’s Casino Lac-Leamy in Gatineau was recently embroiled in a dispute over provincial health and safety regulations. According to a Radio-Canada investigation, visitors of the gambling establishment did not comply with the provincial government’s mask directives. Furthermore, no one reminded visitors to put their masks back on while they were off.
