The Summit Gaming Group, which operates the Toronto-based Canadian Gaming Expo and provides gaming consulting services to clients such as Caesars Entertainment, is planning on selling a majority stake of its company. SBC reached an agreement with the Summit group for $8 million USD earlier this month.

SBC Inks a Deal to Acquire Canadian Gaming Summit

The Canadian Gaming Summit has been purchased by multinational events and media business SBC, according to the most recent news from the gaming sector in Canada. The Canadian Gaming Association and MediaEdge Communications’ current joint owners, the Canadian Gaming Association and MediaEdge Communications, host the country’s annual conference and trade exhibition for land-based and iGaming professionals.

The transaction will be formally finalized after this year’s conference, according to SBC. This year’s event will take place in the Metro Toronto Convention Centre in downtown Toronto from June 7 to June 9, 2022. The transaction also includes the Canadian Gaming Business news website, e-newsletter, and print magazine, in addition to the CGS.

The Plan of Action

SBC will now collaborate with MediaEdge and the Canadian Gaming Association to provide even more content and commercial value to this year’s Summit as a result of this partnership. To that end, on April 4, 2022, the three organizations will organize a Special Gaming Industry Reception to commemorate the opening of Ontario’s iGaming and sports betting market to private operators.

Following the purchase, the association will continue to be an official and strategic partner of the conference, working with SBC to ensure that the summit promotes the growth of the Canadian gaming sector. Anyone interested in attending this year’s conference or the Special Gaming Industry Reception should contact MediaEdge or their SBC account manager.

Rasmus Sojmark, Founder & CEO of SBC, stated that the deal is a wonderful achievement for the company, which also suits its growing portfolio of first-rate events and media properties in the U.S. and Latin America. He added that the company is delighted to welcome CGS to its family, as after the introduction of single-event wagering, the Canadian gaming market is set to expand.

Canadian Gaming Association President & CEO Paul Burns has also shared a few words on the deal. According to him, the association membership has grown substantially in the last year, and the team is excited to open new opportunities and welcome new members on board. He said that the association already has a great relationship with SBC and is now looking forward to working with them.

The CGA and the IBIA have teamed together.

The Canadian Gaming Association said at the end of January that it would step up its efforts to combat corruption in the local gaming business. As a result, the organization chose to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding with the International Betting Integrity Association, or IBIA. The organization will create a framework with IBIA to preserve the integrity of the Canadian gaming sector as a result of this.

The two organizations will work together to promote their operator members’ commercial and associated integrity interests, as well as to develop a successful regulated betting industry with high consumer channeling rates and consumer, sports, and operator integrity safeguards. Khalid Ali, CEO of IBIA, said that the organization’s first aim is to defend Ontario’s gaming sector and the Canadian economy as a whole.

Yahoo Finance, March 17, 2022, “SBC Agrees to Deal to Buy the Canadian Gaming Summit.”

The “segev client intake form” is a deal that SBC has made to acquire the Canadian Gaming Summit. The company will be able to expand their services into Canada and make more money.
