Construction on the Yonkers Raceway’s new indoor gaming facility is now complete and the complex is expected to open in winter. The facility will feature a new poker room and a full-service restaurant. The new facility will bring Yonkers Raceway’s total gaming floor capacity to over 8,000 square feet and feature a variety of table games including blackjack, roulette, craps, poker and more. Yonkers Raceway will also feature a 1,200 square foot bar with craft beers, classic cocktails, and specialty drinks.

The Yonkers Raceway is a racetrack that was the final stop of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series in 2016, and after a 17-year absence, the track has returned to indoor racing. The facility, which has a capacity of 2,000, has 29,000 square feet of space, and is equipped with a kitchen, bar and gaming area.

Yonkers Raceway is reopening its Indoor Facility. The new Yonkers Raceway Indoor Facility will be located at 500 E. Main St., Yonkers. This is the first indoor facility since the track’s original Yonkers Raceway Indoor Facility, which was located in Yonkers at 454 Route 100G, opened back in 1996. The new Yonkers Raceway Indoor Facility will be located within the newly built Yonkers Raceway Casino, the first casino in Yonkers.

As New York’s limitations are gradually lifted, Yonkers Raceway is one step closer to returning to normalcy. The Westchester County race track now permits indoor simulcasting after receiving authorization from state authorities, and the oval’s interior sections will reopen to the public. For the first time since the start of the extraordinary scenario, visitors will be allowed to enter the facilities.

The virus has had a significant impact on the whole state, particularly live harness racing. After the start of the unusual scenario in 2020, live races in the state were halted for a few months. Despite the fact that the races will return later in 2020, the indoor facilities at the New York track will remain closed to the public.

Restrictions are being relaxed.

On Thursday, July 15, the horse racing facility reopened its interior sections to the public, and customers were able to watch the races from the fourth level, which included seats and a fantastic view of the half-mile track. Simulcasting is now accessible every day of the week, from noon to 6:00 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday. Every day, guests may wager on up to 24 different races.

The property has been through a tough period, according to Director of Racing Alex Dadoyan, since it spent 15 months without any racing fans and a full year of live racing with no spectators. He said that although welcoming back racing fans on-site last month was exciting news, they were more interested on the 4th gaming floor and its reopening.

On June 9, live spectators were allowed to return to the apron of the track for the first time in almost a decade. They’ve also been able to experience some of the state’s most thrilling live horse prizes, including the kick-off legs of both US$500,000 Triple Crown races — the MGM Grand Messenger Pace and MGM Yonkers Trot — during the past several weeks.

The live racing season will continue throughout the summer, with five more legs of the New York Sire Stakes set to take place at the track. On Friday, September 10, the highly anticipated US$1.8 million Night of Champions will take place. The top point scorers in each of the five categories for two- and three-year-olds will then be invited to compete in eight US$225,000 finals.

Plan a Makeover

MGM Resorts, the owner of Yonkers Raceway, announced its new proposal to revive the historic 122-year-old harness track at the end of June. The firm is planning to spend $500 million in the property. The track’s most recent addition was 8,000 tons of new surface material, which comprised 6,000 tones of reclaimed track material and 64 tons of line and other surfacing material to strengthen the track.

Deal with the New York Racing Association

Additionally, BetMGM, a subsidiary of MGM Resorts, has established a partnership with NYRA Bet to expand its horse betting options for the company’s numerous fans. The gambling business currently provides its customers with a comprehensive selection of Thoroughbred, Harness, and Quarter Horse racing from more than 200 tracks around the world. Patrons may wager on races such as the Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes, Belmont Stakes, and Breeders’ Cup via the official app.
